Charges: Drunk Man Fires Shotgun In Neighborhood

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Rosemount man is being charged with firing a shotgun off in a residential area on the Fourth of July.

James Edward McMenomy, 52, was charged with one count of intentional discharge of a firearm and one count of reckless discharge of a firearm.

According to the criminal complaint, just after 10 p.m. officers received a call of shots being fired in a Rosemount neighborhood.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with a group of people in the area who directed them to the home where gunshots had been reported.

Police said that officers found several spent shotgun shell casings scattered around the outside of the home.

According to the criminal complaint, officers spoke with the homeowner, later identified as McMenomy. He was visibly drunk.

McMenomy admitted to firing a Remington shotgun into the air. Officers found the shotgun under his bed.

McMenomy had a BAC of .15.
