Charges Dropped Against 1 In Black Lives Matter Protest Case

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Bloomington City Prosecutor dismissed all charges Friday against one of the defendants in the case concerning a Black Lives Matter protest at the Mall Of America in December.

According to a statement from Black Lives Matter Minneapolis, Deanne Pratt, a middle-aged white woman, was charged with trespassing in the incident but repeatedly affirmed her innocence to Bloomington City attorneys. She told authorities she was a shopper in the mall at the time, and only took pictures of the rally.

Her case was dismissed for lack of evidence after her attorneys filed motions to dismiss the charges. Pratt was one of over 20 people charged in the Black Lives Matter protest that day, according to the group.
