Cause Undetermined In St. Paul Fire That Killed 4-Year-Old Girl

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Fire officials say the cause of a blaze that killed a 4-year-old girl earlier this month is undetermined, though it's likely accidental.

The St. Paul Fire Department was called at about 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 to the 500 block of Jessamine Avenue after a fire started in a first-floor bedroom and quickly spread to a house next door. A man in the home was able to save his wife, mother and four of his children.

But 4-year-old NtshiaLiag Yang didn't make it out. She had just had a birthday Jan. 31. There will be a funeral service for Yang on Thursday, Feb. 19, at Koob Moo Funeral Chapel at 1235 Arcade Street in St. Paul.

The St. Paul Fire Department said Wednesday that there's nothing to indicate the cause of the fire is anything but accidental, but the exact cause of the fire cannot be determined.
