Sheriff: 1 Dead, 3 Injured In Cass Co. Head-On Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Little Falls man was killed early Friday morning in a head-on crash involving a compact car and a pickup truck in Cass County.

The sheriff's office says 42-year-old Erik Mathison was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash on County Road 103 in rural Leader.

A boy who was Mathison's passenger was airlifted to North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale. His condition has not been released.

The pickup truck driver and his passenger -- 19-year-old Steven Longworth of Staples and 22-year-old Jessy Frie of Motley -- were treated for non-life threatening injuries at Staples Hospital.

The Minnesota State Patrol is assisting in the investigation.
