Car Plunges Into Eagan Pond, Driver Suffers Minor Injuries

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A driver was not seriously hurt after his vehicle lost control and plunged into a holding pond near Eagan Wednesday afternoon, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the accident at about 12:10 p.m. on northbound Highway 77 at Highway 13. When officers arrived, a 21-year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle and it went into a holding pond.

A water search was conducted as authorities didn't know initially if there was more than one occupant inside the vehicle. No other occupants were found, and the driver told authorities at a hospital that he was alone.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident. Authorities say a witness at the scene swam out to the pond to help the driver out of his vehicle.

What led up to the driver losing control is under investigation.
