Police: Boy Dies After Being Hit By Car In South Minneapolis

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis police say a boy is dead after being struck by a vehicle Friday night.

The victim was hit at about 8:30 p.m. on the 2500 block of 17th Avenue South after stepping out of a van and walking into the street.

The boy was cared for at the scene by neighbors before first responders arrived.

He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center where he later died.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The name of the victim and the driver have not been released.
