District: Fundraiser Candy Bars Had Mealworms

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A central Minnesota school district says that some of the candy bars students were selling for fundraisers contained mealworms.

The New London-Spicer School District 345 posted on Facebook Tuesday, saying that two of the almond candy bars its sixth graders were selling contained the insects.

The district says it will not continue to sell the almond candy bars, which are made by Bazzini LLC and Cherrydale Farms.

The company, which producers millions of candy bars a month, told the district that the two candy bars were an isolated issue.

Those who bought the almond candy bars are encouraged to contact the district at 320-354-2252.
