Buxton, Meyer, Sano Among Twins Spring Invites

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Minnesota Twins will have their three top prospects in camp next month: center fielder Byron Buxton, starting pitcher Alex Meyer and third baseman Miguel Sano.

The Twins announced Thursday they invited 23 players not on the 40-man major league roster to spring training this year in Fort Myers, Fla.

Buxton was the second overall pick in the 2012 draft and finished last season at Class-A Fort Myers.

The right-handed Meyer was acquired a year ago in a trade with Washington for outfielder Denard Span and pitched last season for Double-A New Britain, where Sano also finished the year. Sano was signed out of the Dominican Republic in 2009.

The Twins will hold their first pitchers and catchers workout Feb. 17 at the Lee County Sports Complex.
