Butter Probably Isn't Going To Kill You, Study Says

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- For years, we were told to avoid butter due to saturated fat, but the spread continues to shake off its bad reputation.

Researchers at Tufts University found eating butter has little or no association with chronic disease.

The study says butter is better than sugar, but not as healthy as olive oil.

The researchers want to make sure people don't think of butter as a health food, but something that doesn't seem either largely harmful or beneficial.

According to Time Magazine, the study falls in line with an overall trend of research suggesting "saturated fat is better for you than processed carbohydrates like sugar and white bread, which have been linked to diabetes, obesity and heart disease many times over."
