Bus Driver Assaulted Near Southdale; Juvenile Being Held

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Metro Transit officials say a veteran bus driver suffered potentially "life-altering" injuries last week when he was assaulted near the Southdale mall in Edina.

The assault happened on Thursday around noon when an argument between a group of people and the driver turned into a fight outside the bus.

The driver, a 22-year veteran whose name has yet to be released, suffered serious injuries and was treated at a hospital, a Metro Transit spokesperson said.

It' still unknown how many people were involved in the assault, but authorities said one male juvenile is being held. Several other suspects have been questioned.

The assault remains under investigation.
