Trump calls election of American pope "great honor," and more headlines

Police in Burnsville, Minnesota, say a person died by suicide following a standoff on Thursday evening.

Just after 6 p.m., police took to social media to urge the public to avoid the area surrounding the 200 block of Carriage Lane, just southeast of Burnsville Center on Twin Lakes.

About four hours later, police posted again on social media to say a "male was found deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound," and the scene was secure.

"Thank you to the community and public safety partners for their assistance," police said.
