Man Acquitted In Death Of Man Found In Burning Car

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A St. Paul man has been acquitted of murder charges in the death of a man whose body was found in a burning car.

Demetrius Smoot, 23, was found not guilty by a jury in Ramsey County late Thursday.

Smoot was accused of fatally shooting 36-year-old Jeremy Allen and then burning his vehicle during a drug deal last November.

Investigators used video from a nearby gas station to track down the person who bought the gas to start the fire.
