Buffalo Man Wins Nat'l Bracket Challenge

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesotan has $5,000 more in his pocket after having won the national CBS Local NCAA Bracket Challenge.

Ted Zrust, 44, said he's played various March Madness bracket games in years past, but this was his first time playing through WCCO.

"Went online that Thursday to go see what the TV lineup was, what channels certain games would be on, and happened to stumble across the WCCO Bracket Challenge," Zrust said.

As he told WCCO, his picks were spur-of-the-moment, but his 51 correct guesses out of 64 -- including nailing the Final Four -- ended up placing him first among nearly 24,000 total contenders nationwide.

The Buffalo, Minnesota man said that he didn't end up picking any major upsets, though admitted having seventh-seeded Michigan State in the Final Four probably constituted a risky pick.

Zrust, who was awarded a $5,000 AmEx card for his win, has a wife, one son and two daughters.
