BTTF Day In Minnesota: 'Where We're Going, We Don't Need Roads'

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- We've finally caught up with one of pop culture's most famous depictions of the future.

At the end of the first "Back to the Future," Michael J. Fox's Marty McFly time traveled to Oct. 21, 2015 -- which is this Wednesday -- to save his children.

Theaters around the U.S. are celebrating with a screening of the entire trilogy, including several theaters in the Twin Cities metro area.

While some of the things depicted in the sequel have come to pass -- such as the Oculus Rift-like virtual reality specs, Skype-like video phone calls, and drones capturing breaking news images -- there are a few headliners that missed the mark. No, we still don't have the elusive hoverboard and flying cars.

Also, the odds seem stacked against the Chicago Cubs actually landing their elusive World Series title, like happens in the movie.

All day, a number of Minnesota organizations and notables were getting into the spirit of Back to the Future Day.
