Man Sentenced For St. Paul's First Homicide Of 2016

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been sentenced in the fatal shooting of a teenager in St. Paul.

The Ramsey County Attorney's Office says Rayshon Brooks was sentenced Friday to 13 ½ years in prison. He pleaded guilty in April to crime committed for the benefit of a gang in the March shooting of 17-year-old John Broyles.

One count each of second-degree murder with intent, second-degree murder without intent and crime committed for the benefit of a gang were dismissed as part of Brooks' plea.

Broyles' death was St. Paul's first reported homicide of the year.
