Police arrest suspect in Brooklyn Park sexual assault

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Police in Brooklyn Park announced on Saturday they have identified and arrested the suspect involved in a recent sexual assault.

On April 24, at approximately 3:15 p.m. police responded to a sexual assault near the 7400 block of Unity Avenue. According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, the sexual assault occurred along a park trail alongside Shingle Creek, between Unity and Regent avenues. A preliminary investigation shows the victim was forced into a wooded area at gunpoint where the assault took place. Police believe that the victim and suspect were not acquainted before the assault.

According to city data, there have been 31 reported sexual assaults in Brooklyn Park so far this year.
