Brit's Pub Hosts Pub Vaulting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – There was some unusual activity in Minneapolis Saturday night.

People were pole-vaulting on the rooftop of a bar.

"Pub vaults are kind of popping up all over the country, in terms of doing them in kind of weird places like malls and down on the street fairs, and things like that," Jory Zunich, from the Twin Cities Track Club, said.

And this one proved to be pretty popular, a large cocktail crowd gathered at Brit's and looked on as the athletes flung themselves above the grass that's typically used for lawn bowling.

It was the first time the event took place, an idea from a track club foundation member.

Some athletes were amateurs, even high school aged, and the night finished off with some world class pole vaulters.

Cash prizes were given out.
