Brian Fitch's Court Date Postponed Because He's Still In Hospital

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The man charged with killing a Mendota Heights police officer was scheduled to be in court Monday afternoon, but it has been postponed, because he's still in the hospital.

Police say Brian Fitch Sr. killed officer Scott Patrick during a routine traffic stop last week in West St. Paul.

Investigators say when Fitch was in the hospital after being shot several times by police, he admitted to a guard that he killed Patrick.

Fitch faces 12 charges in two separate counties.

Patrick was a 19-year veteran of the force and leaves behind a wife and two teenage girls.

His visitation is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at St. Stephen's Church in West St. Paul.

His funeral will be held at the church on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
