Hopkins Brewery Creates Beer Advocating Sunday Liquor Sales

HOPKINS, Minn. (WCCO) -- A new beer released on Sunday is a celebration, and a push for progress.

LTD Brewing in Hopkins held an event Sunday for the release of their new beer called "Sunday Sales Pale Ale." Organizers say the new brew is meant to celebrate the law allowing beer to be sold in taprooms on Sundays.

But they say liquor stores should have that same option, and the beer is a push for progress.

"Liquor stores are forced to remain closed when plenty of them want to be open and serve consumers. There are people that are sitting at home needing jobs, and we've got retailers that are forced to be closed because of outdated liquor laws. It just doesn't make sense," Andrew Schmitt, executive director of Minnesota Beer Activists, said.

The release event is continuing Sunday night.
