Brainerd Storms Disrupt Wedding Plans For Minnesota Couple

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Minnesota couple had to scramble to make arrangements after the wedding they had planned at Madden's Resort in Brainerd had to be moved because of Sunday's severe storms.

Brianna Sucik and her fiancé, Kevin Relf, were going to get married this Saturday on the beach.

But the resort is closed because of storm damage.

She says it's been a challenge finding places for her 130 guests to stay.

"Of course so many people were displaced so places were filling up. It's Brainerd in the summer so places reach capacity anyway," Sucik said.

She grew up in the area and says while she's bummed to not have the wedding at Madden's, she feels sad for some many who have been impacted.

"Everyone feels affected, whether it was in your own backyard or a neighbor or a friend," she said.

She says they will hold their ceremony at her mom's backyard instead.
