Sheriff: Brainerd Man Hurt After Minivan Hits Hay Bale

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 75-year-old Brainerd man was hurt Sunday night after hitting a large hay bale in the road in Crow Wing County, authorities say.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident at about 9 p.m. on County Road 3 near The Woods Restaurant. When officers arrived, a minivan had hit a large hay bale in the lane of traffic. Authorities say there were at least four hay bales in the roadway.

The driver, identified as 75-year-old Gene Lafavor, was taken to St. Joe's emergency room with injuries. A 68-year-old passenger was not injured in the crash.

Authorities are asking for anyone with information on who might have lost the hay bales to contact the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office at (218) 829-4749.
