Sheriff: Boy, 9, Dies After Near Drowning In Shorewood

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 9-year-old boy who nearly drowned in a residential pool on Sunday died Tuesday afternoon, according to the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called at about 3:16 p.m. Sunday to Peach Circle on a report of a 9-year-old boy found unresponsive in a residential swimming pool. The boy was at a private residence for a pool party with about a dozen people attending.

Authorities say parents were present at the time of the incident.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department. What led to the incident remains under investigation.

The name of the boy and his cause of death have not been released.
