Woman Accused Of Stabbing Man Who Wanted Money Back After Sex

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A St. Paul woman is formally accused of stabbing a man who wanted his money back after paying to have sex with her.

The Dakota County Attorney's Office says 25-year-old Octavia Marberry faces one charge of threatening violence after allegedly stabbing a man with a box cutter at a Burnsville hotel early Saturday morning.

Marberry admitted to investigators, according to the criminal complaint, that she arranged to meet a man for "companionship," charging him $120 to $200.

She said after having oral sex with the man in a hotel room, he wanted his money back. Marberry said she then tried to push the man out of the room and he fell, got up and came towards her. She then stabbed him with the box cutter.

Marberry told officers she then tossed the box cutter in a wooded area outside of the hotel because she "didn't want to get in trouble."

Police initially became aware of the situation at about 1 a.m., when an officer noticed an empty car with an opened door in the hotel parking lot. The officer had just noticed a quarter-sized drop of blood on the car seat when a man approached and said it was his car.

The man admitted to arranging to meet Marberry for sex at the hotel and paying $100. He says they only had oral sex and he did not want any more. He then asked for some of his money back, which Marberry refused.

He says another woman then came out of the hotel bathroom, and Marberry stabbed him in the forearm.

Officers noticed two women walking through the hotel as they were interviewing the man, and the women stopped and turned the other way when they saw police. They were both arrested in the hotel lobby.

Marberry could face up to five years in prison if convicted.

Police and the attorney's office have not announced if the man will face any charges.
