BOTS Law Aims To Protect Consumers From Ticket Scammers

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There is a new effort to protect consumers from ticket bot scammers.

Many people have a rough time buying tickets for popular events because of online robot buying. A new law would prohibit the sale of any ticket that was obtained by going around security protocols.

The upcoming Prince tribute concert is an example of how scammers get the tickets before fans.

"Those scammers are like thieves in the temple. Or maybe, as I noted yesterday, instead of making doves cry they're making fans cry," Sen. Amy Klobuchar said. "Either way it is wrong."

Klobuchar is one of the sponsors of the new law called Better Online Ticket Sales, or BOTS.
