Boschwitz Remembers John Glenn As Gracious Senate Colleague

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Former U.S. Sen. Rudy Boschwitz remembers former astronaut John Glenn as a gracious colleague in the Senate.

Boschwitz calls Glenn, who died Thursday at age 95, an American hero and "a very good friend." Boschwitz, a Minnesota Republican, says he and Glenn, a Democrat from Ohio, had their offices next to each other — "by choice."

In a statement, Boschwitz calls Glenn "a very gracious man who was always ready to reach across the aisle and help the Senate work as it should."

Besides having their offices next to each other in the Hart Senate Office Building, Boschwitz and Glenn also served together on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
