Police: Customer Shoots Richfield Body Shop Owner, Flees Officer

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A Richfield body shop owner is in the hospital after a disgruntled customer shot him during an argument Wednesday morning, according to police.

Richfield police say officers responded at 11:43 a.m. to Maaco, located on 6244 Cedar Ave., on the complaint of a shooting.

According to police, a male customer known to the business got into an argument with the business owner. He then shot the owner numerous times, wounding the owner's foot.

The owner was taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment.

A Richfield police officer briefly chased the suspect, who fled the area in his vehicle, but terminated the pursuit due to traffic conditions and the suspect's driving conduct.

The incident is under investigation. Police say it's an isolated incident and do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community.
