Police: Woman's Body Found In Winona Co. Woods, 1 In Custody

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The remains of a woman were found in a wooded area in Winona County early Saturday morning.

Lewiston police say a caller alerted them to a possible homicide involving a woman just before 6:30 p.m. Friday.

A search for the woman began at about 8 p.m. near an area by the intersection of county roads 25 and 23. Her body was discovered at about 12:35 a.m.

Police say one person is in custody, and they are expected to face a second-degree murder charge.

The Winona County Sheriff's Office is assisting Lewiston Police in the investigation.
