Boat Crash Kills Northern Minn. Man, Injures 2 Others

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 23-year-old northern Minnesota man died after a boat he was in crashed into a rock Friday night on Lake Shagawa.

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office said the crash wasn't reported until early Saturday morning, when a caller on one of the lake's islands phoned it in.

The two survivors told deputies that they were in a boat, traveling fast, when they crashed into a rock near an island.

All three were thrown from the boat.

Brice D. Bundy, of Ely, Minn., died at the scene, the sheriff's office said.

The driver, 27-year-old Nicholas E. White of Babbitt, and the other passenger suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
