No Injuries, Minor Damage After Inmates Flood Part Of Blue Earth County Jail

MANKATO, Minn. (WCCO) -- Authorities say a group of inmates blockaded and flooded a part of the Blue Earth County Jail Monday night.

The county sheriff's office said the incident lasted about two hours and involved 10-12 inmates. There were no injuries and minor damage.

According to the sheriff's office, the inmates pushed tables against the door of their pod to make it more difficult for jail officials to enter. They also flooded the pod.

The sheriff's office said on Tuesday, law enforcement officials sat down with the inmates to hear their grievances.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, including two other county sheriff's offices, responded to assist Monday night.

"The jail is back operating at normal status," the sheriff's office said. "The incident is under investigation and more details could be released once it is complete."
