Sheriff: Girl, 7, Dies In Bloomington Drowning

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities say a 7-year-old girl died Sunday in an apparent drowning in Bloomington.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office, along with the Blooming Police and Fire Departments, were called at about 4:14 p.m. to East Bush Lake Beach on a report of a medical emergency involving a 7-year-old girl.

When first responders arrived, they attempted to resuscitate the girl. She was transported to Minneapolis Children's Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A man who was at the beach with his family described what he saw.

"We turned around and a lifeguard was carrying a girl across threshold from water to grass," Ed Beckmann said.

Beckmann says he watched as five lifeguards helped administer CPR.

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office says the incident is under investigation. The girl has not been identified, and the medical examiner will determine her cause of death.
