Teen Killed, 2 Children Critically Injured In Blaine Crash Involving Tractor-Trailer

BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) -- One person is dead, and two kids are fighting for their lives after a crash in the north metro.

The crash happened just before 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday on University and 85th Avenue.

Authorities tell WCCO-TV the crash happened as a car was going east on 85th and a semi tractor trailer was going south on University, but they are still working to find out exactly what happened.

The car was being driven by a 19-year-old man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two children in that car, ages 12 and 13, suffered critical injuries and were taken to the Hennepin County Medical Center to be treated.

The driver of the semi is a 41-year-old man from St. Paul.

Authorities said he was not hurt, stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
