Blacktop Company Destroyed By Fire

MANKATO, Minn. (AP) -- It took firefighters and equipment from seven Mankato area agencies to fight a fire at a blacktop company.

Thick, black smoke billowed from the fire at WW Blacktopping Sunday afternoon. The shop, office and business records were all destroyed. Company president Mitch Wolff tells The Free Press that eight or nine pieces of major construction equipment were also destroyed.

A steady stream of tanker trucks brought water to a reservoir that supplied additional water for the fire.

WW Blacktopping paves streets, parking lots and roads throughout south-central Minnesota.
