Bite Of Minnesota: Adult Freeze Pops

When we hit the dog days of summer (you know, those summer days with unusually-warm temperatures), frozen treats are oh-so-craveable. Popsicles, fudge bars, ice cream sandwiches, you name it. If it comes from the freezer, count me in. Heck, even snacking on frozen fruit will do the job.

It was during one of those eating-straight-from-the-freezer snacking moments when inspiration hit. What if I pureed a bunch of fruit and put them in portable containers? Sure, I could make popsicles, but I've already done that. After a few internet searches for freezie pop holders, I found Zipzicles, a perfect ice pop pouch for storing these treats. The first batch was great, but froze too solid for my liking so I added a splash of alcohol to the next batch and voila, the perfect amount of frozen! Since then, I've experimented with a few different flavors and thought it would be good to share before summer is over. Go ahead and give your favorite combo a try. Consider it an after-dinner drink that doubles as dessert!

Blueberry Lime Tequila Adult Freeze Pops

  • 1 cup blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup lime juice
  • 2 tsp lime zest
  • 1/4 cup tequila

Blend all ingredients thoroughly before pouring into pouches. Freeze and enjoy!

Peach Whiskey Adult Freeze Pops

  • 1-2 peaches, pits discarded
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup whiskey (I used Stranahan's)

Blend all ingredients thoroughly before pouring into pouches. Freeze and enjoy!

Note: A funnel and an extra hand helps with accuracy when filling pouches. Do not overfill or your pouch won't seal. Lay flat on a baking sheet and freeze until solid.
