Bike Thief On Stealing Spree At University Of St. Thomas

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Public safety officials at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul say someone is stealing bikes locked up around campus.

Six bikes have been stolen in the past two years, and most of them were locked up with cable or chain locks.

Officials suggest riders use U-style locks to secure their bicycles to campus bike racks. The university also warns students that bikes locked up to anything other than racks on campus will be removed and impounded.

The university suggests bikers should lock wheels are other parts that can be removed easily; take your bike seat with you if are able; take note of your bike's serial number and consider engraving your bike with your own ID numbers.
