Bicyclists Not Deterred By Bitter Cold

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The wind chill is 25 below zero, but that's no matter to Becky Sheehan, who works in downtown Minneapolis. She has a bike with spikes and is fully dressed.

"It seems crazy, but in reality, it's the easiest way for me to get to work and it's actually kind of fun," Sheehan said.

Sheehan says the key is dressing from head to toe in proper gear.

"I got my Bern multi-season bicycle helmet and my goggles and my Columbia jacket and my Steger mukluks," she said.

Despite the bitter cold, Sheehan says it really isn't that bad.

"It's not as cold, because you're generating heat while pedaling the bike," she said.

Sheehan isn't the only one. There are many brave souls out there on their bikes in subzero wind chills.
