Bicyclists Brave Cold For New Year's Day Ride In South Dakota

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) — Temperatures aren't expected to reach above 25 degrees on Friday, but cyclists in Sioux Falls still plan to take to the streets.

Chad Pickard of the Spoke-N-Sport bicycle shop says the 29th annual New Year's Day Ride will help build awareness for the Center of Hope and help fund its Bike to Work Ministry program.

A police escort will lead the riders from Spoke-N-Sport to Falls Park, and the cyclists will return to the shop via the city's bike trail. Chili and hot chocolate will be served after the ride.

The ride begins at 1 p.m.
