Best Buy To Open At 5 P.M. On Thanksgiving Day

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Consumers looking to score deals at Best Buy this Thanksgiving might have to leave off doing the dishes until later.

The electronics retailer has announced its opening doors to customers at 5 p.m. Thanksgiving Day – that's an hour earlier than doors opened last year. The Richfield-based company says it'll offer doorbuster deals on "TVs, laptops, appliances, cameras, video games and more."

The holiday shopping will end at 1 a.m. Friday. Doors will then open again at 8 a.m. for proper Black Friday deals.

Minneapolis-based discount retailer Target also announced its opening earlier on Thanksgiving -- 6 p.m.

Many companies say they have to open on Thanksgiving Day in order to compete during the holiday shopping season.

Still, several companies have refused to open on Thanksgiving, including Costco, REI, DSW, GameStop, Home Depot, Lowe's, Marshalls, Nordstrom and many more.
