Sheriff: 2 Hurt In Crash Caused By Inattentive Driving

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Inattentive driving is likely the cause of a head-on crash Wednesday in Benton County, says the sheriff's office.

The crash happened at about 1:10 p.m. on the 800 block of Little Rock Road Northeast in Watab Township.

Authorities say a Buick Regal driven by 18-year-old Darin Turck crossed the center lane, hitting a Pontiac Grand Am head on.

The Rice Fire Department had to extricate 36-year-old Chad Popp, of Rice, from the Grand Am.

Both Popp and Turck were taken to St. Cloud Hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

The sheriff's office is investigating, and will determine if criminal charges are warranted.
