Benefit For North St. Paul Man Battling ALS

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- In 2011, a diagnosis changed Steve Stefano's life. The former North St. Paul quarterback and basketball player was diagnosed with ALS.

He is now confined to a wheelchair and uses a breathing tube.

There is no cure for ALS. However, there is an experimental stem cell treatment in Phoenix, Arizona that may prolong Stefano's ability to speak and eat on his own. The trip will cost over $10,000.

On Friday, May 15, Stefano's friends and family will be holding a fundraiser to help raise money for his treatment.

A fund is also set up in Stefano's name. For more information on how you can help him pursue this life-changing opportunity, please click here.
