Bemidji Police Investigate Bloomington Student's Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 20-year-old Bloomington woman has died after being found unconscious in Bemidji Wednesday morning.

Police say Sandra Lommen was found in a wooded area near 10th Street Northwest and Rice Avenue at about 8:30 a.m. Emergency crews say she showed signs of hypothermia and intoxication.

She passed away Wednesday afternoon at Sanford Medical Center.

Lommen was a freshman at Bemidji State University, where she was studying nursing.

On Wednesday evening, BSU President Richard Hanson released a statement to the campus community about Lommen's death.

"I offer my deepest condolences to Sandra's family and to all those in our community who knew and cared for her," Hanson said.
