BCA: Polk Co. Deputy Injured In Shooting

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says a Polk County deputy was shot and injured near Crookston Thursday afternoon.

Police received report of a shooting just before 1 p.m. inside a home on the 28000 block of 300th Street Southwest in rural Polk County.

When deputies arrived and began talking with family members outside of the home, the suspect began firing at them from inside.

Deputies returned fire, and one of the deputies was struck in the back of his bullet-resistant vest.

The suspect was shot, and then taken into custody soon after.

The injured deputy was treated and released from Riverview Hospital in Crookston, where the suspect was also treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The suspect was then taken to Tri-County Community Corrections, also in Crookston.

No one else was injured during the shootout.

The BCA is investigating the incident.
