Bail Set At $1.5 Million In Toddler's Death

MAPLEWOOD, Minn. (AP) — A Maplewood man is being held on $1.5 million bail in the death of his girlfriend's 1-year-old daughter.

Thirty-five-year-old Leb Mike Meak appeared in Ramsey County District Court Tuesday on a charge of second-degree murder.

Authorities say they were called to Meak's home last Thursday and arrived to find the toddler unresponsive with bruising on her face and body.

Meak was caring for the girl at his home. He allegedly told police that he "roughed her up a bit" when he was changing her diaper. Online court records do not list a defense attorney.
