Stearns County Deputy Delivers Baby In Parking Lot

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A baby boy was born in a Waite Park parking lot thanks to the help of a Stearns County deputy.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, the deputy was driving by the 400 block of 28th Avenue South at around 5:50 p.m. when a passing motorist flagged him down. The man told the deputy his wife was having a baby, and the deputy immediately called for an ambulance.

When the deputy examined the woman, he noticed the baby's head was crowning and determined the birth was imminent. The woman was moved to a safe location on a blanket, and the baby boy was born just a few minutes later at 5:52 p.m.

Both the mother and her newborn son, Will, were transported to the St. Cloud Hospital for evaluation.
