Autism Society Hosts Annual Fundraiser At Southdale

EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Minnesota families affected by autism teamed up at Southdale Center in Edina on Sunday.

They took part in Steps of Hope 2015. It's the Autism Society of Minnesota's largest annual fundraiser. Teams walked at their own pace while checking out the state's largest resource fair.

Organizers said families often don't know about the resources available in their own community unless they turn out for an event like this.

"We have over 60 tables representing different organizations and individuals that serve the autism community," Jonah Weinberg with the Autism Society of Minnesota said. "They have everything from therapeutic programs to different products to summer camps for kids on the autism spectrum and a whole variety of other things."

All of the money raised Sunday stays in Minnesota to help local families.

Here's how to donate.
