Authorities: Pedestrian Struck By Light Rail Train In St. Paul

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A pedestrian was taken to the hospital after being struck by a light rail train in St. Paul Friday afternoon.

According to the St. Paul Fire Department, the pedestrian was struck by the LRT at Snelling and University avenues. Metro Transit says the incident occurred at 2 p.m.

The pedestrian -- an adult male -- was taken to Regions Hospital. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available.

A spokesperson for Metro Transit said that service to the Green Line was suspended for approximately 40 minutes between Raymond and Hamline avenues. Buses replaced the train between those stops.

The spokesperson added that routes 21 and 84 were also temporarily detoured.

Just after 2 p.m., Metro Transit said rail service resumed at all stations.
