Authorities Investigate Death Of Man Found Outside In Maplewood

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Maplewood police say a man in his 30s has been found dead in an open outside area of the city Friday morning.

On June 12 at 6:15 a.m., Maplewood police officers and Fire paramedics responded to the area of Hudson Road and Century Avenue – the southeast corner of the 3M campus – on the report of a person down.

Upon arrival, the responders found the man and pronounced him dead at the scene. Police say there is no obvious indication as to the cause of death and there were no immediate signs of struggle or trauma.

"While incidents such as this can be unsettling for those who live, work, or travel in the area, there is nothing to indicate a public safety risk," Maplewood Police Chief Paul Schnell said.

The man has been preliminarily identified, but his identity is being withheld pending formal confirmation and notification of family. An autopsy will be performed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner.
