Authorities Identify Woman's Body Found In Maplewood

MINEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the woman whose body was found in a wooded area in Maplewood, Minn.

Police say 54-year-old Victoria Thacker DeConwi, also known as Victoria Ann Thacker Conwi, was found dead around 3:20 p.m. Saturday, near Hazelwood Street and Beam Avenue.

Investigators learned that she moved from Washington state to Minnesota in 2012. She has no local address and was believed to have been homeless before her death.

The final manner and cause of death is still being investigated, pending toxicology tests, but foul play has been ruled out.

"Investigators have learned that Ms. Thacker DeConwi had a long history of personal struggles," said Maplewood Police Commander Mike Shortreed, who oversees the department's Investigations Unit. "Unfortunately, we will not likely determine the reason Ms. Thacker DeConwi was walking in the area her body was located."

According to Maplewood Police, her body was found roughly 30 yards from a paved walking path.
