Authorities ID 2 Shot, Killed In Cass County Murder-Suicide

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Authorities have identified two men who died in a murder-suicide last week in a Cass County home.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office received a call for medical assistance at about 7:18 p.m. on May 12 on the 8700 block of Midway Drive NW in the city of Onigum, which is near Walker. When authorities arrived, they found two adult men who had been suffering from gunshot wounds.

A 57-year-old Walker man was airlifted to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. A 60-year-old man, also from Walker, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Cass County Sheriff's Office identified the 57-year-old man as Leo Jordan. The 60-year-old man was identified as David Smith.

Authorities have not said what led up to the incident, which remains under investigation. The Cass County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, Leech Lake Tribal Police, North Memorial Ambulance and AirCare.
