Authorities: Cyclist Killed In Mankato Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 46-year-old Mankato man is dead after colliding with a vehicle while riding his bike Wednesday morning, according to Mankato officials.

At 12:39 a.m. Wednesday, Mankato Public Safety police and fire responded to a bicycle and vehicle accident near the intersection of North 4th Street and East Spring Street.

Upon arrival, responders found the victim, identified as David Winters, who suffered significant injuries and was not breathing. Despite lifesaving measures, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say a 2000 Dodge vehicle, driven by 21-year-old Terry Lillis of Mankato, was traveling northbound on Fourth Street when Winters entered the intersection traveling westbound on Spring Street.

Lillis was uninjured in the incident and cooperated with the investigation, officials said.
