Dive Teams Searching Mississippi River For Missing Teen

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A dive team searched for hours for a teen believed to have gone missing in the Mississippi River near Lion's Levee Park.

At 5:15 p.m. Sunday, St. Paul Park authorities were notified about a 14-year-old boy who had gone missing in the river.

The boy was at a gathering with several other kids before being reported missing. No adults were present, but were nearby, authorities say.

Twelve divers from the Washington County Dive Team searched the waters since shortly after the boy was reported missing, but have yet to find anything.

St. Paul Park Assistant Fire Chief Michael Kramer says the current in the river is over double the normal speed for this time of year, making the search more difficult.

The search was halted at nightfall and will resume Monday morning.
